TRAINING & CONSULTATION

Customized training, program development, and consultation for hospitals, health systems, and community organizations.

You are not alone in this work.

Providers caring for families after pregnancy & infant loss often navigate this work with limited training, few resources, and little opportunity to connect with others who understand it’s unique challenges.

We’d love to help you build knowledge, confidence, and compassionate care in your organization.

We partner with health professionals and organizations to ensure they have the training, emotional support, and resources they need to confidently care for families at one of the most tragic moments of their journey towards parenthood.

Staff Training

The Collaborative offers virtual and in-person trainings for anyone who works with individuals and families affected by perinatal loss. Every training is tailored to the specific needs of your organization.

We've partnered with hospitals, birthing centers, public health programs, Healthy Start and Head Start programs, home visiting programs, SIDS and FIMR coordinators, and Departments of Health and Mental Health, among others.

Our training catalog covers the full spectrum of perinatal loss care, from building clinical knowledge of the mental health impact of loss to practical tools and best practices that improve outcomes for families.

Core training topics include:

  • Supporting Parents and Families Through Perinatal Loss (hospital and community settings)

  • Miscarriage in the Emergency Department

  • Pregnancy After Loss and Parenting After Loss

  • Communicating with Parents, Partners, Fathers, and Siblings

  • Staff Wellbeing: Compassion Fatigue and Secondary Trauma

Specialized topics include:

  • Program development and sustainability

  • Building support groups

  • Creating local resource guides

  • "My facility has been using your brochures for our bereaved families on our L&D unit, in our PACU (for patients we may not see but have a loss), and in the OBGYN office. We find them to be very well done and a good resource for our patients."

—Ashley M., The Family Center, Exeter Hospital

  • "The RTZ Hope brochures are incredibly helpful for both parents and staff, and I am grateful to have such a wide selection to choose from."

—Yolanda K., MedStar Washington Hospital Center

  • “I learned the importance of looking for more ways to support staff when they have a client who experiences pregnancy loss or infant death.”

    —Former Training Attendee

  • “I learned that saying the right words to a mother who lost her baby is so important.”

    —Former Training Attendee

  • “Everything that was shared with me I will try to remember and take with me because it was all so important and crucial to helping families who have lost their child. It will change the way I support families in this process and it makes me feel more certain that I can be of a better support this time to my families.”

    —Former Training Attendee

  • “There is nothing I would have changed about this presentation. It was well presented and I wish it would have lasted longer.”

    —Former Training Attendee

  • “I utilized the RTZ brochures to completely revamp our perinatal bereavement care processes. I got all the staff on board, involved the resident physicians, and we had a very successful program in place when I left. The patients were very receptive to the handouts, but the card that had the website on it that lists the available community support was one of the most requested information pieces.”
