Maternal Mental Health Forum, Monterey & Santa Cruz Counties
MONTEREY, CA – In May, RTZ Founder and Executive Director Dr. Kiley Hanish was honored to serve as a keynote speaker at the inaugural Maternal Mental Health Forum hosted by the Maternal Mental Health Task Force representing Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties.
The full-day event brought together healthcare professionals, community organizations, and advocates committed to improving maternal mental health across the region. The forum created an opportunity for learning, collaboration, and dialogue around the diverse experiences and needs of birthing families.
As part of the program, Dr. Hanish presented on pregnancy after loss, exploring the emotional complexities that can arise when families navigate a subsequent pregnancy following the death of a baby. The presentation highlighted common grief responses, anxiety and uncertainty during pregnancy, and practical ways providers can offer compassionate, trauma-informed support.
RTZ is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important inaugural event and to help increase awareness of the unique needs of families who are pregnant after a previous loss.
