When Grief Needs More Support: Recognizing and Responding to Clinical Concerns After Pregnancy and Infant Loss

Emily Fortney, PsyD, PMH-C

About This Webinar

Grief following pregnancy and infant loss is a deeply personal and complex experience that can encompass a wide range of emotional, psychological, and physical responses. While grief is a natural response to loss, some individuals experience symptoms that warrant additional clinical assessment and intervention.

This webinar will provide healthcare and mental health professionals with practical tools to recognize when grief may require additional support, identify clinical warning signs, and differentiate grief from common mental health conditions, including trauma, depression, and anxiety. Through clinical examples and evidence-informed approaches to assessment, intervention, and referral, participants will strengthen their ability to respond to the mental health needs of individuals and families navigating pregnancy and infant loss while providing compassionate, trauma-informed care that validates the grieving experience without unnecessarily pathologizing grief.
